At the center of the human experience is the desire to belong. Belonging is a sense of spiritual wholeness that begins at birth, with the blessing of family, and later community and culture, all garden beds for the soul’s unfolding. And yet we know this orchestration falters and at times even fails because failure and loss is also part of human development. We lose our way; thresholds of change challenge the safety and comfort of containment. Loss of community through divorce, job, friendships, and death induces crisis. The moorings of who we know ourselves to be are loosened, and we are left on our own, alone, in need of human touch and care. We cannot return to the fold of ourselves and community alone.  Belonging requires the spiritual contact and care of another person who can help guide our injured soul back home.

The return to oneself begins with a desire to understand one’s soul deeply, not a narcissistic endeavor but an investment in who we are as spiritual beings.  It is true that we cannot love another until we can love ourselves.  Irish poet John O’Donohue states that your “soul knows the geography of your destiny.”  At its core, our work together involves guiding your soul out of despair and exile into a landscape of understanding, acceptance, and self-love. This is done through the relationship we build with each other.  It is through our relationship and my training that the mystery of wellbeing springs.
